Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use Milieu Legal. Our accessibility work is guided by the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Access Board, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

For blind visitors

You can use your preferred screen reader without turning on a special site mode. Headings, landmarks, named controls, keyboard navigation, and status announcements are part of the site itself. A screen reader can speak the interface and, with a supported device and setup, send text to a refreshable braille display.

Read aloud

The accessibility panel also offers optional read aloud for page text, with voice, speed, pause, resume, and stop controls. Reading starts only when you ask. It uses voices the browser identifies as local to your device, without sending the text to a separate speech service through this feature. If your browser provides no local voice, use your device’s screen reader instead.

Read aloud is a listening aid. It does not replace a screen reader’s navigation, form controls, or braille support, and it does not read text inside third-party frames or inaccessible image-only documents. Stop it before using screen-reader speech if the voices overlap. Closing the accessibility panel stops playback.

Make the site easier to use

Open the small circular Accessibility button at the bottom right, or use Accessibility in the footer. Choose text size up to 200%, light or dark high contrast, readable fonts, text spacing, underlined links, stronger focus, reduced motion, a larger pointer, or a reading guide. Changes apply immediately.

Turn off all adjustments restores the site defaults. You can also hide the floating button and reopen settings from the footer. Settings are kept in this browser only and are not used to infer a disability. Basic keyboard and screen-reader access remain available with all adjustments off.

Keyboard and assistive technology

  • Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between controls, and Enter or Space to activate buttons. Use the arrow keys within the Matter tools tabs, menus, and selection lists.
  • Use the Skip to content link to move past navigation. Your screen reader’s heading and landmark commands can move between major sections.
  • Press Escape or use Close to leave the accessibility panel. Focus returns to the opening control.
  • In Talk to Will, press Enter to send or Shift+Enter for a new line. A completed response is announced without repeatedly reading the conversation history. Use Jump to latest response to review the response and its actions.
  • Use your browser’s zoom and your preferred screen reader. No special screen-reader mode is required.
  • Your operating system’s reduced-motion and forced-color settings are respected.

Documents and outside services

External checkout, connected services, uploaded files, and downloaded Word or PDF documents may have separate accessibility limitations. The document editor, fee-waiver text view, and original PDF page text view offer ways to review content in this site. PDF text extraction can have reading-order limitations and cannot describe images or read image-only scans.

Report a barrier or request assistance

Email Legal@MilieuPower.com with the page address, the task you were trying to complete, what went wrong, and your preferred way to receive assistance. If useful, include your browser and assistive technology. Please do not send passwords, medical records, or confidential case details.

Our technical target

WCAG 2.2 AA is our improvement target. The settings panel does not by itself establish accessibility or certify legal compliance. Complete workflows, documents, and third-party services require ongoing testing, including human review with assistive technology.
